Chart Won't Expand with Indicator Installed (Build 01.15)

Postby imxuf92 » Thu Aug 18, 2016 8:06 pm

Hello all!

I have a strange issue that just started occurring in the latest FXCM Marketscope build 01.15.
If I have an indicator that uses the "instance:addStream()" call, then any chart that has that indicator sited on it won't allow the "expand" feature. That is, you can't make candles taller but grabbing the pricebar area with the mouse and dragging. However, you can still scrunch the chart to make the candles smaller, but not larger. Has anyone else experienced this?

This is quite frustrating as you can imagine! Attached is a sample indicator that causes the issue on my FXCM installation. It's a simple indicator and basically just calcs/displays ATR on top of the candles.

It has an external stream object too that is not being used yet... If I comment out the call to that stream variable, everything works fine. Review/import the attachment to see what I mean.

Any ideas?

I can not reproduce this issue.
Can you provide a screenshot?

Interesting. Several people with whom I trade also have the issue.

Attached are 2 animated gifs of the issue. The "before" shows the issue with the indicator. The "after" shows the same indicator working, but with the errant line 42 commented out.

The images are apparently too large.

Here is a link to the screenshots (animated .GIFs or movies).

I've encountered this problem as well. Using FXCM Trading Station version 01.15.063016

When certain indicators are placed on the chart it limits the ability to expand the chart vertically. Especially if the indicator is rendering far above or below the candles. It seems the platform recognizes there is charting data above/below the candles, and attempts to render all charting elements on the screen (within in the visible frame), and therefore will not allow the user to resize (increase) the vertical size.

This is very frustrating ...and confusing, as it did not occur in previous versions of Trading Station.

It not just indicators. It also occurs with ANY of the onscreen visual elements.

If you place an arrow, or a rectangle, or even a horizontal line that is well off screen at a very distant price, the issue will occur.
