What does the suffix _impl signify?

Postby sllouw » Sun Mar 20, 2016 2:33 am

The Indecore SDK documentation for writing an indicator refers to a set of mandatory functions the second of which is the Prepare() function.
The document refers to a global variable called instance which is hyperlinked see screenshot. The hyperlink points to the structure of this global variable which is in the form of a table with various properties and methods associated with it. I assume that an instance of this table can be considered an object.
Why does the documentation for the table describing this global variable structure have the suffix _impl?
Does _impl have some meaning?
Thanks for any reply

Hello Sllouw,

Regarding your question

Why does the documentation for the table describing this global variable structure have the suffix _impl?

I would like to say the following:

The table named “instance_impl” is related to the indicator you write.
The table name without prefix “_impl” means that the table is related to the indicator you use in the indicator you write.
