STARC bands?

Postby Aarnog » Tue Dec 08, 2009 6:55 pm

Would anyone be willing or able to make a STARC band indicator? I'm afraid I have no idea how to code in the slightest; otherwise I'd post it myself.

Information on STARC bands, if needed:

formula:
Upper band = Simple moving average + (user specific multiplier * average true range)
Lower bane = Simple moving average + (user specific multiplier * average true range)

The simple moving average is 6
Average True Range is 14
user specific multiplier can be... well, whatever you'd like.

I've also noticed that both SMA and ATR are in the FXCM trading station, but I can't for the life of my figure out how to combine them so that I can get the user specific multiplier into the ATR.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to double-reply, but I can't get the STARC band multiplier to go below 1.0 (I generally use values of 0.5 to 0.7). How would I go about fixing that?

Nevermind! I figured out that I just needed to change "addInteger" to "addDouble" and my problems disappeared completely. The indicator is now absolutely perfect. I will sing tales of your deeds to my grandchildren.

Thank you very, very much for doing this.

Hi Tony
I'm actually having the same problem in setting the multiplier parameters to less than1. I have no idea what add integer means so i'm completely baffled. I'm using the fxcm station if thats relevant.
Hope you guys can help
Thanks
Paul
